Discover The "10X Tools" That Will Turn You Into a Blues Master in a Tiny Fraction of the Time...

All without hours of hard work or practice...

From the Recording Studio of Travis Raab
Los Angeles, CA

Picture your favorite blues guitarist...

The one whose album you’ve listened to a hundred times...

Whose solos you can sing note for note…

And who you’d give your left arm to be able to play like.

It might seem like you could never do what he does, but for just a second I want you to suspend your disbelief and ask one simple question.

What does it actually take to play blues guitar at a high level?

If you’re like most “stuck” guitarists, you might think it all comes down to…

  • How many hours you practice each week

  • How many lessons you take

  • How much natural talent you have

  • How many "learn guitar" book, videos, and courses you've gone through

  • Or how big your hands are...

Well I’m going to let you in on a little secret…

It’s NONE of those things.

And in the next few minutes I’m going to shatter your understanding of what it takes to become a master blues guitarist… and then show you a massive shortcut to playing the way you’ve only ever dreamed about.

Hi, my name is Travis Raab and I’m a professional musician living in Los Angeles.

I’ve played concerts and festivals all over the world, written and performed for dozens of commercials and TV shows, and I’m currently one of LA’s highest-rated guitar teachers.

My guitar dreams came true, but contrary to what you might think, things never came easy for me.

I picked up my first guitar when I was 12 years old, and it was tough going right from the start…

And it certainly wasn’t for lack of trying!

I went through dozens of instructors…

Read every “learn guitar” book I could get my hands on…

And practiced every day until my parents insisted I finally put it down and go to sleep.

But despite all my efforts my progress was painfully slow, and after nearly a decade of playing I had almost nothing to show for it.

I was incredibly frustrated, and I couldn’t understand why it was so hard for me to make even the smallest improvement… while other guys seemed to be able to just pick up the guitar and play.

Despite all of the struggles, I wanted to be a professional musician more than anything, and I decided to make one last all-in effort by enrolling full time into a college music program.

Surrounded by dedicated, aspiring musicians, I was fully immersed in learning guitar…

By day I took classes on blues, jazz, and theory from some of the best instructors in the world…

And by night I practiced into the wee hours of the morning… often until the sun came up.

If I was ever going to figure it out, I was certain this would be the place…

But to my complete and utter frustration, NONE of it seemed to translate into being a good blues player.

Sure, I had memorized a few of my favorite songs and solos… but every time I played them it was obvious something major was missing.

I studied music theory, learned a bunch of scales, and could tell you all about the Phrygian and Mixolydian modes… but the truth is I never had any real understanding of how to use any of it.

And I could follow along with a band, but when it came time to take the solo, I’d get lost and freeze up… and even when I DID hit all the right notes and rhythms, somehow it would still fall completely flat.

All I wanted to do was play blues guitar like my heroes, and nothing seemed to work.

I was starting to have serious doubts about whether I would ever “make it,” and I began to question everything…

Was I on the wrong path? Was I wasting my time at school?

And for a brief moment I even considered dropping out…

But it’s a good thing I didn’t, because as luck would have it I was about to meet the teacher that would change the trajectory of my entire life.

I’ll never forget the first lesson I took from Sebastian.

He started by asking me what my goals were on the guitar…

I told him I wanted to play blues guitar, and then he asked what I was currently working on.

Eager to make a good impression, I started telling him about all the advanced techniques I was working on.

“I’m practicing tritone substitution and working on mixolydian…”

But before I could even finish that thought, he stood up and walked across the room to the box where he kept all of his records.

He reached in and pulled out B.B. King’s “Live at the Regal” album, and then turned to me and said, “This right here is the greatest blues album ever recorded. Your homework for tonight is to listen to it straight through and then come in tomorrow and tell me what you learned.”

I raced home, record in hand, hungry to discover what Sebastian was trying to teach me.

I unplugged my phone, turned down the lights, and made myself comfortable on the couch… And as I sunk into the music, BB’s unforgettable licks ringing out, I was struck by how effortlessly simple it was…

He wasn’t playing super fast…

It wasn’t full of difficult licks that I couldn’t learn to play…

And he wasn’t using some exotic scale or advanced technique I hadn’t seen before.

In fact, as far as I could tell he wasn’t doing anything that I hadn’t already been taught.

And as I lay there trying to figure out what made him sound so great, it hit me like a bolt of lightning…

I had spent the last decade of my life obsessively searching for more and more guitar knowledge… Turning over every stone, hoping to find some hidden pearl of wisdom that would finally make it all click.

But B.B. didn’t possess some magical secret that I had yet to uncover…

In fact, after all my years of studying I was certain I already knew more about the guitar than he did.

And it wasn’t just B.B…

The truth is most of my blues guitar heroes never had any formal training at all!

Eric Clapton taught himself to play by following along to his favorite records…

Stevie Ray Vaughan learned by ear…

And Jimi Hendrix never took a single lesson… in fact, he famously taught himself to play on a Ukulele with only one string!

And in that very moment it finally dawned on me that the answer wasn’t more guitar knowledge… and that NO amount of studying was going to turn me into the blues expert I so desperately wanted to be.

The next day I went back to Sebastian to share what I had learned.

But the thing I couldn’t figure out… if I already had all the information I needed, why did I still struggle to play the way I wanted to?

How to Get Good at Guitar, Fast

All the way back in 1897 there was an Italian economist by the name of Vilfredo Pareto.

Pareto was tending to his garden one day when he made the discovery that 80% of the peas in his garden were coming from just 20% of the pea pods.

And while most of us wouldn’t have given it a second thought, Pareto thought he had stumbled onto something big, and he began looking for this pattern in other places…

First he studied land distribution in Italy, and found that 80% of it was owned by 20% of the population.

Next he looked at the neighboring countries, and was amazed to find the same result there as well.

And in the decades that followed, others scientists and economists continued to find the same pattern in all kinds of places…

But the idea really hit the mainstream in 1979 when the British author Richard Koch published his best-selling book, The 80/20 Principle.

The 80/20 Rule says that 20% of the inputs lead to 80% of the outputs… or that 20% of your efforts produce 80% of your results.

And once you know to look for it, you start to see this pattern everywhere.

Business CEOs will tell you that 80% of their sales come from just 20% of their customers…

80% of all automobile traffic is on just 20% of the roads…

And 80% of your time spent talking on the phone is with 20% of your friends.

The 80/20 Principle is everywhere, and as Sebastian would soon show me, it even applies to blues guitar…

Here’s the thing…

When you set out to play blues guitar, there’s a seemingly endless number of things to learn…

  • Do you need to learn about modes?

  • How much music theory do you need?

  • What about the CAGED system?

  • Which scales do you need to know?

  • Should you be memorizing arpeggios?

And the list goes on and on...

But if your goal is to play BLUES guitar, the vast majority of these things are a complete waste of time.

Here’s the truth…

You don’t need to know the modes…

You don’t need a bunch of music theory…

Heck, you don’t even need to know the major scale!

In fact to play blues at a very high level, you really only need a few key concepts and techniques... the 20% from the 80/20 Rule.

And once you truly understand this, it changes everything.

It changes how you practice, what you focus on, and most importantly, how quickly you improve…

And when you apply it the correct way, it becomes a massive shortcut for playing blues guitar!

The 80/20 Principle tells us that most of what we are able to accomplish on blues guitar will come from just a few of the concepts and techniques we can learn.

I call these the 10X Tools, because when we focus our efforts on these highly productive areas, we can 10X our result for the same amount of effort.

Instead of wasting time practicing things that lead nowhere… we’re developing the skills that have the biggest impact on our ability to play killer blues guitar.

After Sebastian taught me the 80/20 Principle, we spent the rest of our time together working on the 10X Tools… and for the first time ever, the things I was learning were translating directly into playing better blues guitar.

I was having “lightbulb” moments every day, and my progress took off by leaps and bounds.

From there, things started happening fast for me.

I auditioned for a band and got the gig…

I moved to Los Angeles and signed a deal with Jerry Heller, the legendary manager who worked with bands like Van Morrison, Crosby Stills & Nash, and the Who…

And I went on tour all around the world… performing in China, Europe, and even opening for the Black Eyed Peas in Mexico City.

The 10X Tools changed everything for me on blues guitar, and I know they will do the same for you if you just give them a try.

I’ve taught these techniques to hundreds of students in my private lessons, and the results have been incredible…

My students include everyone from complete beginners on up through Grammy Award-winning artists, and while I teach all styles, the number one thing my students want to learn is blues guitar.

And over the last 15 years of teaching I’ve been testing, tweaking, and refining the 10X Tools into a powerful curriculum that will transform your blues guitar, virtually overnight.

It’s been the secret weapon that has allowed me to become one of LA’s highest rated guitar teachers.

Until recently, the only way to learn this stuff was to book a private lesson with me…

But after struggling for so many years to learn guitar, I’ve decided it’s time to share this incredible shortcut with as many people as possible.

To show them that they’re not stuck at the intermediate level, and that they can experience the awesome joy of expressing themselves fully through blues music.

And that’s why I finally decided to put the 10X Tools on video and package them together in a brand new blues guitar course that anyone can learn from.

I’ve spent the last year planning, filming, and producing this course, and I’m thrilled to announce it’s finally ready!

Here's Just a Little of What You'll Discover Inside of No-Nonsense Blues

MODULE 1: The 12 Bar Blues

The 12 bar blues progression is the foundation of all blues music, and that means you need to know it inside-out. In this section you will learn the standard progression and its common variations, you will discover how to play them in any key, and finally you will learn how to feel the chord changes so you never get lost in a blues again!

  • How to feel the chord changes without having to think about it… once you get this down you’ll never get lost in a blues song again (and it will help your playing in ALL styles of music)

  • Popular rock songs that are really just the blues in disguise, such as Hound Dog, Johnny B. Goode, Red House, I Can’t Quit You Baby, and many more

MODULE 2: The Shuffle Feel

A key element of the blues is its distinctive swing or “shuffle” feel. In this module you’ll learn all about the shuffle feel with a simple exercise that will get your playing into the groove fast.

  • How to switch between straight and shuffle in your solos to add a truly unique sound to your playing

  • An easy way to feel shuffle and straight playing that doesn’t involve counting beats or practicing with a metronome

MODULE 3: The 3 Rhythm Guitar Parts

When it comes to blues rhythm playing, there are 3 parts you need to know. Once you’ve got these 3 parts down you’ll be covered whether you’re playing by yourself, with a friend, or with an entire band.

  • The 3 rhythm guitar parts you must know… these will allow you to pick up your guitar and instantly play with any group of musicians… or carry the entire song by yourself!

  • 3 strategies for attacking any blues solo without having to memorize a bunch of licks and no matter your current skill level

  • The right way to add major pentatonic to your blues playing to give it a sweet sound… HINT: it only fits over certain parts of the song, and if you use it at the wrong time and it will sound like fingernails on a chalkboard

  • How to use chord tones to step beyond minor pentatonic scales and open up a whole new world of licks… learn this technique and you will be able to solo in any genre

MODULE 6: 4 Tips for Soloing

Why do some solos knock your socks off while others put you to sleep? In this section you’ll learn 4 simple rules to make your lead playing stand out.

  • The 4 simple rules I teach all my students to help them create interesting, memorable solos

  • How to use repetition and motif in your lead playing to tell a story… an instant fix for solos that ramble on and on without any direction

  • How to turn even the most basic lead line into a powerful, emotional lick by using vibrato on the right notes

MODULE 7: Minor Pentatonic

Sometimes called the “E shape,” sometimes called “pattern 1,” almost every guitar player learns this shape of the minor pentatonic scale first. But as simple as it is, you could make an entire career out of just these notes. In fact, even legends like Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix probably spent 75% of their time in this pattern.

But there’s a world of difference between knowing the scale and knowing how to use it.

And so in this section we take a deep dive into the most common pattern of minor pentatonic and show you how to squeeze every last drop of bluesy goodness out of it.

  • The best notes to bend in the minor pentatonic shape… and the one note you must never bend

  • How to use the blue note to add just the right amount of spice to your licks… and how you can use the same concept with ANY note to create a truly unique sound

  • The “launching pad” lick… this is an absolutely essential part of every bluesman’s toolkit and will instantly give you a huge vocabulary of tasty licks to pull from

  • A simple way to follow the chord changes by knowing which notes to end your licks on

MODULE 8: Major Pentatonic

Minor pentatonic always works, but adding major pentatonic to your repertoire gives your playing a sweet sound that takes it to a whole new dimension…

In this module we’ll take a close look at the most common pattern of major pentatonic, including when to use it, when not to use it, and how to create memorable licks with it.

  • The most common mistake players make when using major pentatonic… and how to completely avoid it by following this one simple rule

  • My favorite licks from major pentatonic, plus the best notes for bending

Blues lyrics are famous for their repetition, unique rhyme structure, and distinctive “call and response” format. In this section you’ll learn how to bring these themes into your lead playing to “tell a story.”

  • How to borrow from the rhyme scheme of the blues to instantly give your blues solos a melodic, lyrical sound

  • How to use motifs in your lead playing to create a memorable “through-line” and avoid the dreaded solo that bores the listener by rambling on and on

MODULE 10: Basslines and Chromatic Walkups

Chromatic walkups bring a classy element to your playing, connecting the chords in your blues in a sophisticated way.

  • How to make your chord changes more interesting and bluesy by introducing chromatic walkups

  • The most common bass line in the blues, and how to incorporate it in your rhythm and lead playing

MODULE 11: Blending Major & Minor

Blending major and minor is the signature sound of the blues, but you have to know how to do it correctly… In this section you’ll learn the 3 approaches to mixing major and minor in your solos.

  • How to create tasty blues licks by blending major and minor

  • The simple “3 steps down” approach that let’s you play major and minor pentatonic without learning any new shapes…

  • How to turn the minor pentatonic licks you already know into major licks by modifying a single note

The turnaround comes at the beginning, the end, and sometimes in the middle of the blues, and it’s an essential part of becoming a complete player… especially if you want to play with other musicians! In this module you’ll learn how to kick off a blues, how to end a blues, and even how to incorporate the turnaround into your lead playing.

  • The most common ways to end a blues song

MODULE 13: Major and Minor Pentatonic Deep Dive

In this section you’ll learn the other four patterns of major and minor pentatonic, including licks in each one.

You’ll learn the easiest way to find them on the fretboard quickly so that you never get lost again…

And you’ll discover the hidden connections that link them together, allowing you to travel up and down the entire neck of the guitar with ease.

  • My favorite go-to licks in each pattern of major and minor pentatonic

  • The “left/right” method of visualizing the fretboard that allows you to quickly see the patterns just by knowing 2 notes

  • The extended major and minor pentatonic scales… get these under your fingers and you’ll be able to travel up and down the entire neck of the guitar with ease

Picking out new gear is a lot of fun, and it’s also key to dialing in a killer blues tone… But it can also be completely overwhelming, and with so many options out there it’s hard to know where to start.

I can’t tell you how much money I’ve wasted over the years on pedals that are now collecting dust in the back of my closet.

And that’s exactly why I created No-Nonsense Blues Gear.

To point you straight to the good stuff… the essential gear that you’ll use day in and day out to get that perfect tone in your blues playing.

No-Nonsense Beginner’s Blues is valued at $47, but is yours completely free of charge when you sign up today.

Bonus #5: 12 Custom Blues Backing Tracks

When you’re learning blues guitar, you’re going to spend a lot of time practicing over backing tracks… and choosing the right ones is a huge deal!

The best blues solos respond to the band… when the band picks up steam, the lead guitar player responds by increases the energy and intensity.

This is a crucial skill for lead guitar playing, and one that is completely missed by many of the backing tracks you will find on YouTube.

Some use artificial instruments that just sound goofy…

Others use real instruments, but don’t ebb and flow the way a real band does.

Responding to the band is such a big deal that I personally created 12 backing tracks specifically for you to practice along with as you go through No-Nonsense Blues.

These backing tracks are the closest thing you’ll get to playing with an actual blues band… and I’ve included a standard and a quick change version of each track in the 3 most common keys.

You’ll also get a version with a full band, and a second version with just the bass.

These 12 tracks are valued at $60, but are included with your purchase today, completely free of charge.
